Storage Wars The Empire Strikes Out Episode 41

December 19, 2011 | Author: | Posted in Storage Wars

In this episode of Storage Wars, which takes place in Ontario, California, Dave Hester drove into the storage unit facility with his brand spanking new white truck and trailer. Both sides of the truck and trailer had Dave’s new business name painted on, Dave Hester Auctions. When the first auction began, all the bidders immediately became aware of an attractive bed set. The unit had other odds and ends of furniture inside of it too. Dave was caught telling another person that the unit was not really worthy of more than $500, at the most. Barry placed the first bid. Brandi Passante and Jarrod Schulz jumped in, with Jarrod doing all the bidding. Bids went bouncing around between Barry and Jarrod, and Barry eventually won the unit with a $1550 bid.

The second storage unit of the day was a 10×20 unit. As soon as the door was opened, it looked like it contained the entire contents of someone’s house inside. Brandi saw near the back of the unit a large cardboard box marked in felt pen, “Hot Wheels” and Jarrod got quite ecstatic over this. The first bid was made by Dave Hester. Dave, Barry and Jarrod fought this one out. Jarrod eventually won the storage unit with a bid of $3000. Brandi was not happy that Jarrod spent that much money on the unit, and she wondered how they were ever going to make their money back.

The last unit of the day was also a 10×20 unit. It contained bicycles, cars parts and stereo equipment. Barry got the auction going with the first bid, then the other three men,  race  Darrell, Dave, and Jarrod, got in as well. Darrell beat the others out by placing an $825 bid that nobody was willing to match.

When Barry opened up his unit to see what was inside, he saw the headboard of a bed, and an old worthless washer machine. He was going through the contents of the unit quickly and somewhat carelessly, quickly trying to find that home run item to make big bucks on. Barry grabbed on to a leg of a furniture cabinet. The leg broke off, causing the other furniture stacked in the unit to come crashing down on Barry’s head! The Storage Wars crew had to help Barry out to see if he was seriously hurt. Someone handed Barry a few tissues to press against his head, so possibly Barry was bleeding slightly. He was okay, but he felt a little embarrassed. There was not really anything worthwhile in this unit.  However,  Barry found what appeared to be a glass statue. He took the statue to a collector who told Barry that it was a glass and stone statue of a Hindu Goddess. The collector quickly offered Barry $1000 for the statue, but he refused. Barry asked the collector what it was really worth, and he admitted that it was worth somewhere between $3500-$4000. Barry decided to keep the statue, and as he was getting ready to leave, he dropped the statue on the glass display case, shattering the glass. There was no mention as to what Barry had to pay the gentleman to get the glass repaired.

Brandi and Jarrod scored several boxes of toy Hot Wheels cars from their unit. They also found a stereo, dishes, speakers, records, and music CD’s. Jarrod paid $3000 for this storage unit and Jarrod was doing his best to justify the money he spent on the unit while he was adding up the value of the contents. However, there was not really much of anything, yet he came to a conclusion that the value of everything would yield about $3160, giving Jarrod and Brandi a total profit of $160.

When Darrell “The Gambler” Sheets inspected his unit, he discovered car parts, stereo equipment,  camera equipment, stereo turntables, and mostly a little bit of this, and a little bit of that. Nothing real exciting. Darrell noticed a cardboard tube that contained a wanted poster for the notorious Colombian drug kingpin, Pablo Escobar. Darrell got excited with this find, thinking that the poster could be valuable. Darrel made a visit to a friend of his who was a collector of law enforcement items and memorabilia. His friend said the poster was interesting, but it was only worth about $30 at the most. He suggested that Darrell hang on to the poster for a few years, and perhaps he could get $34-$35 if he was patient enough. Darrell was not impressed with his friend’s suggestion.

This episode ended with Barry Weiss making $2450 in profit from his storage unit.
Darrell Sheets still did well, making a profit of $850.
Brandi Passante and Jarrod Schulz did all they could to show a profit of $160.
Dave Hester did not buy a unit this day, so he went home with no profit, and no loss.
