Storage Wars Season 2 Ep. 43 The Drone Wars

This storage unit auction occurred in the beautiful city of Gardena, California.  Barry Weiss rode in to the auction driving his 1970′s Chevrolet Van, and with him, he brought along his good friend, Lt. Col. Ken Rogers. He is actually Kenny Rogers Jr, son of the singer, Kenny Rogers. Mr. Rogers mentioned the fact that as a pilot, he has flown over 11,000 sorties. He brought a secret weapon with him to help Barry. It was a remote control miniature drone that Barry would have him fly into storage units to see all the goodies inside. Dave Hester brought his son, Dave, Jr. with him. We saw another appearance by Nabila Haniss in this episode as well. Nabila is known for the purchase of Paris Hilton’s storage unit for $2,775. Paris Hilton’s items were placed in storage back in 2005 when she and her sister Nicky’s home was burglarized. They moved out and subsequently put their items into storage. Paris Hilton failed to pay her storage bill, and the unit was auctioned off. Nabila sold the contents of the locker for a whopping $10 million to Bardia Persa, an internet entrepreneur.

When the first storage unit of the episode was opened, it revealed a significant amount of sports equipment. At least 2-3 cross bows were spotted. The unit also had a big tool chest inside. It seemed like a nice unit if it could be bought at a good price. The first bid was started by Barry for $500. Everyone wanted in on this unit. Darrell Sheets and Dave Hester got into a bidding battle, and Jarrod Schulz got into the action as well. Even Brandi Passante wanted in on this, and she placed a bid for $3200. In the end, Nabila and Jarrod were the last two standing, and Jarrod ended the battle with a cruishing, $3400 winning bid.

The next unit was a larger unit. Nabila spotted an older big screen TV in the back of the unit. Darrell was quite interested in this unit because it appeared to have decent items of value within it. Nabila got things going with a $400 bid. Dave and Darrell blew Nabila away with wild bids that were driving up the price of the unit. Just as it appeared that Darrell was going to victorious at $1400, Barry jumped in at the last minute with a bid of $1450. Darrell countered with $1550, but Barry prevailed with a final bid of $1650 that shut Darrrell down.

The final auction of the show was another larger storage unit. It looked like it had some expensive tools inside, perhaps related to the construction industry. This unit looked quite promising. At this point in the show, Barry has his friend, Lt. Col. Ken Rogers bring out the remote control drone. They got it into the air and flew it into the unit. However, the drone crashed inside. The auctioneer, Dan Dotson, was not happy with Barry’s little stunt. He prevented Barry from going inside the unit to retrieve the drone, and he also told Barry that he was disqualified from bidding on this particular unit. Bids on this unit were being thrown out like crazy. Jarrod started things out with a $1000 bid. Dave, Nabila and Darrell were going to war with each other. Everybody wanted to snatch up this unit. As the bidding was winding down, it was between Darrell and Dave. They both wanted this unit badly. Who was going to back down first? Well, Dave finally backed down when Darrell placed a $7000 bid, too much for Dave to go any further with. Nabila thought Darrell was crazy, saying that he spent way more than it was worth.

Bandi Passante and her husband Jarrod inspected the contents of their unit. There was quite a bit of stuff inside, and it looked like they were going to make a majority of their money back. They found some cross bows inside which seemed to be somewhat valuable. They eventually took the cross bows to an arms expert to get them appraised. The expert told Brandi and Jarrod that the bows were old technology, about 20 years old, and that they were only worth about $250. Brandi and Jarrod were disapointed that the cross bows were not worth more.

In Barry’s locker, he came across an antique glass curio case that he estimated to be about 100 years old. He indicated that it had a value of approximately $1600. Other antique furniture was inside as well. Barry found a duffel bag containing a leather pouch which had some jewelry inside. Barry drove over to a friend of his, Caron Hopkins, to have the jewelry appraised. She is a jewelry expert who owns a store called “A State Of Mind” on Ventura Boulevard. Caron examined the jewelry. She looked at a pearl necklace that she said was authentic, not imitation. She gave it a value of $500. An early vintage 50′s necklace was appraised at $200. There was also a 1920′s sterling necklace that came in at $2000. Barry was quite happy with the results.

Darrell Sheets and Brandon Sheets went inside their expensive $7k storage unit to find out what they had bought. Darrell immediately spotted 100 boxes of travertine tiles, all manufactured and imported from Spain. With glee, Darrel told Brandon that the travertine was worth at least $7k. Darrell also found 56 boxes of half-inch oak that had a value of $10,000. They also found a brand new-in-the-box DeWalt cut-off saw, with a value of $300. Also a brand new Jacuzzi tub, worth $3-$4k. Darrell wound up being the big winner of the episode, and he was quite happy that he denied Dave from cashing in on the unit.

Here are the results from this week’s episode:

Darrell made an $18,000 profit from his unit.
Barry earned a quick profit of $2025.
Brandi and Jarrod made $570 in profit.
Dave Hester made nothing and did not buy a unit.
